SMALL BOAT FLEET

Glenmar's small boat fleet sails out of the Baltimore County Sailing Center at Rocky Point Park.  We race on Thursday evenings from May through mid-September.   Guest boats and crews are invited to join and race with us, when in the area.   The GSA Fleet Captain is Ed John.   Please contact him for registration information.  Our fleet is divided into two groups each offering a start:

  • Portsmouth Handicap Fleet comprising of traditional 470's, Mobjacks, Lasers, Flying Scot's and any other typical daysailing racing boats.
  • Thistle One Design Fleet #28 with over a dozen Thistles registered and most Thursday evening races typically see 8-10 on the starting line.
All club races qualify for the prestigious Glenmar SA Highpoint Trophy awarded to the highest placed boat for each season, in each class. In addition, the Gary Steinfelt Memorial Award is presented to the club racer or volunteer that most exemplifies the qualities of fleet camaraderie, growth, friendship, fellowship, and/or facilitation of success each year.  The GSA "DUMP" award will be presented to the boat exhibiting the most spectacular swamping or series of swamping, for the season.
