Ahoy Glenmar! I would like to announce the destination and details of the 2006 Memorial Weekend Cruise. This is the event that is the kick off for GSA's cruising season! It is meant to jump start us in to Summer. I planned a cruise that will do just that.

Saturday, May 27, 2006 join us up in Turner Creek, off the Sassafras River. Anchor out and dinghy ashore where GSA has rented the pavilion from 5:00 - 8:00pm. We plan on having a contest, cook out (GSA will provide Charcoal, you provide your dinner) and some volleyball. Please bring a dish to share to get us in the spirit!

Additionally, this cruise will have a theme. Now, other cruises in the past have had themes. There was the Pirate theme, the Hula theme... This is not to be any different! We will have a theme. We will have a game! Ok, here's something different: a Decades theme. Everyone who wishes to participate should choose a decade between the 1920's and the 1980's. Each boat should choose the same decade. For example; if a boat chooses the 1920's, everyone aboard should dress as if they were in the 1920's. Everyone aboard a particular boat must conform to that decade. There will be several prizes awarded: BEST DRESSED (personal); MOST OUTRAGEOUS (personal); MOST COORDINATED (Boat award). We need 3 people to volunteer to be judges (or we will select them ourselves). A cd player will be provided should you desire to bring appropriate music for your era to add character to your theme. The judging will be done at 5:30pm. While participation is not mandatory, it certainly increases the fun quotient for you and your boat!!! The cookout will commence after the contest. Weather permitting, we will get a volleyball game going on the park's court.

Sunday night will bring us down to Worton Creek where we will seek to raft-up and have the traditional GSA cocktail party. GSA will provide some liquid refreshments, please bring an appetizer or munchies to share. Weather will dictate an inside or outside anchorage. The cruise captain will inform the participants on Sunday as to whether we will be inside or outside. I will monitor Channel 72. Please RSVP to me when you can. Help us kick off the new cruising season in a fine manner!
